This guide is designed for Zoho CRM administrators who are responsible for installing, configuring, and securely managing the Twilio Chat Messenger by AMATEC extension. Admin access is required to connect Twilio with Zoho CRM and to manage system-wide settings such as credentials, phone numbers, and user permissions. Proper administration ensures reliable messaging and a smooth experience for all CRM users.

Once the extension is installed and configured, it runs automatically in the background. Authorized users can begin outbound and inbound SMS and MMS messaging without any additional setup.

Installation and Initial Configuration

  • Administrators begin by installing the Twilio Chat Messenger by AMATEC extension from the Zoho Marketplace. This installation adds the messaging functionality directly into Zoho CRM and prepares the system for Twilio integration.
  • After installation, the admin must enter valid Twilio credentials, including the Account SID and Auth Token. These credentials are used to authenticate Zoho CRM with Twilio and enable secure message exchange between the two platforms. Incorrect or inactive credentials will prevent messages from being sent or received.
  • Admins must also add and verify at least one Twilio phone number. Only verified numbers can be used for SMS and MMS communication. Once verification is completed, the number becomes available for messaging within Zoho CRM.

After entering all required details, admins must save and validate the configuration. Successful validation confirms that the integration is active and ready for use.

Initial Setup Responsibilities

Administrators are responsible for completing the following setup steps to ensure the extension functions correctly:

  • Installing the extension from the Zoho Marketplace
    This step makes the Twilio Chat Messenger available within Zoho CRM and allows further configuration to begin.
  • Entering the Twilio Account SID and Auth Token
    These credentials establish a secure connection between Zoho CRM and Twilio and must be kept confidential.
  • Adding and verifying Twilio phone numbers

Access Control and User Permissions

  • Admins can enable access at the profile level.
  • Admins can also choose to provide access to all users when messaging is required across the organization. Once access is granted, users can start inbound/outbound messaging directly from the Web Tab in Twilio Chat Messenger.

Note: Only Paid Users can access the Twilio Chat Messenger for Zoho CRM Module extension. It is not available for Free Trial Users.

Security and Credential Management

Security is one of the most important aspects of the admin role. Twilio credentials should always be stored securely and shared only with authorized administrators. Regular review and updates of credentials are recommended to maintain system security.
Admins can update, rotate, or remove Twilio credentials at any time through the extension settings. If access needs to be restricted or paused, credentials can easily be removed.

Ongoing Maintenance and Monitoring

Although the Twilio Chat Messenger runs smoothly with minimal maintenance, administrators should regularly monitor system performance. This includes checking message delivery, verifying phone numbers, and ensuring credentials remain active.
